Menu Location: Settings - Multiple Camera Scanning - Monitor Mode Scanning
Monitor Mode Scanning allows Video Monitoring Software to scan multiple camera inputs sequentially. While scanning each camera input Video Monitoring Software analyzes the particular camera input for any motion it can detect. If it detects motion, it can record video to disk file, and issue alarms if they have been enabled.
Behavior of scanning is controlled by setting the Scan Settings. Then one enables which cameras to include in the scan, how many frames it should acquire from the camera, and if motion is detected how many more frames it should also capture.
The following parameters cannot be changed while already in scanning mode. One must exit Monitor Mode (Stop Monitoring or uncheck Enable Web Mode) , and return into Video Mode in order to be able to change, set or reset the parameters.
Enable Scanning
Checked item, enables scanning between all enable cameras. Scanning will then take place once Start Monitoring is invoked. Once enabled, and Monitor Mode is started, Video Monitoring Software video window will switch between different enabled video inputs. If All Cameras Window is enabled, then video from all enabled cameras are displayed in the All Cameras Window.
Enable Show All Cameras Window
If enabled will display a video window showing all camera video inputs simultaneously. Only enabled cameras are shown. If all cameras are enabled then all cameras are shown. The All Cameras Window shows camera 0 to 3 along the top row, numbered from left to right. And cameras 4 to 7 on the bottom row, left to right. Window shows when scanning enabled and in Monitor Mode, and closes when one exits Monitor Mode. Disabling any non-essential video inputs or cameras increases the speed of the scanning. Each sub-window which is being updated in the All Cameras window, is shown in the main Video Monitoring Software Video Window. This feature is great for being able to see in all directions at the same time for a video monitored site.
Scan Settings (Dialog Window - Select Which Cameras to Scan)
Enable
Check mark those cameras which you want enabled results in which cameras are
included in the scan. Unchecked cameras are disabled and are not included in the
scan. e.g. if camera 1 and 5 are checked, then cameras 0,2,3,4,6, and 7 are
omitted and skipped from the sequencial scanning. If all are disabled, then the
default camera is automatically enabled - check status to very the parameters
you thought you set.
Frames Min
In the scan when switching to the particular camera, Frames Min specifies the
amount of frames that will be examined from that particular camera input before
moving on to the next camera (providing no motion is detected). The more Frames
Min, the longer time the scan will spend on that camera.
Frames Max
Specifies that if motion is detected on the camera, how many frames should be
acquired before leaving that camera to go on to other cameras.
Remember that while monitoring you still want to go around and check other cameras even if motion is detected in some other camera zone, just in case there is motion in more than one zone. Frames Min, Max allow you to control the length of time in terms of number of frames, that Video Monitoring Software will spend on each camera input. Less frames acquired faster is the switching between channels,
Default Camera
Tells the program which camera it should display first when the program first starts up. Which camera to switch back to after stopping scanning. And which camera is the first one to start with when starting scanning.
On Switch Skip Frames
Reduces switch noise. When switching between camera inputs, false motion detection can occur due to switching artifacts. These can be eliminated with this feature. It tells the program when if first switches to a new camera, skip or discard the first number of frames for display and motion detection. Enter the number of frames you want skipped. Typical values are 0-5 depending on your setup. The result will be a clear display of switching between channels, and less false motion detection due to switching artifacts in the video. Be sure to use it.
Enable use of FGE Video Multiplexer which is already installed
If a hardware video multiplexer and driver from FG Engineering is installed on your system, then check mark this item. If not leave it unchecked. If unchecked then your one video input will be used for all the channel inputs to the program. To have real physical switching between multiple video cameras on your system you will need to acquire a video multiplexer from FG Engineering visit www.fgeng.com to acquire a video multiplexer for your Video Monitoring Software system.
